Bruceton, TN

“Home is where our story begins…” [T.S. Eliot]. Mine began in the Town of Bruceton, Tennessee, population 1,400 - 140 miles East of Memphis and 100 miles West of Nashville. Going home always seems a little different - the streets feel a bit smaller, the trees taller, and the BBQ tastier. There’s a new firehouse, a new park and even a taqueria. But certain things never change - Hollow Rock is still a gathering place for teens, trains still pass through the town day and night, and the Big Sandy River flows steadily through the rainy months. Fishing, hunting, sports, church. The final game of the regular season for high school football is always Hollow Rock-Bruceton Tigers vs. Camden Central Lions - the “Rumble in the Jungle.”

But this trip home was different. Anita Baker once said: “You leave home to seek your fortune and, when you get it, you go home and share it with your family.” Coming home to celebrate the dedication of the PWillyFitnessZone42, pay a visit to Bruceton-Central Elementary School, and host a few meals was special - really special. Never forget where you came from and never forget to return. This is the time and the place where I chose to launch the charitable arm of my work.
